App: DayZen — Offline AI Day Optimizer Publisher: Aspire D2D Contact: aspired2d@gmail.com
DayZen is a personal planner and journal built around your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and the choices you have.
1. Summary
- Your tasks, journal entries and settings are stored on your device.
- The day-optimization ("AI") feature runs entirely on your device and makes no network calls.
- If you create an account, your account details and synced data are sent to DayZen's servers so they can be kept in sync.
- The app reports crashes and errors through Firebase Crashlytics.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information We Handle
2.1 Information stored on your device
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Tasks (title, subtitle, date, start/end time, priority, category, completion status) | Planner, home screen, insights |
| Journal entries (title, body, mood, timestamp, accent colour) | Journal and reflection features |
| Achievements and derived insights | Progress and analytics shown in the app |
| App settings and preferences (including notification preferences) | Personalising the app |
| PIN | App lock. The PIN is stored as a hash, not in plain text, in the device's secure storage |
This data is kept in a local database on your device. It does not leave your device unless you use account sync (section 2.2).
2.2 Account and sync information
If you sign up or log in, the app handles:
- Name and email address you provide
- Password, sent to our server to authenticate you (never stored on your device in plain text)
- Authentication tokens used to keep you signed in, stored in the device's secure storage
- Synced data: tasks, journal entries, settings and notification preferences, so they can be backed up and kept consistent across sessions
If you register for push-style notification delivery, a device token may be sent to our server.
2.3 Diagnostic information
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to collect crash reports and non-fatal error reports. These may include device model, operating system version, app version, and a stack trace of the error. We use this only to find and fix bugs.
2.4 Biometric data
If you enable biometric unlock, authentication is performed by your device's operating system. DayZen never receives, stores or transmits your fingerprint or face data; it only receives a success or failure result from the OS.
3. Permissions the App Requests (Android)
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Biometric (USE_BIOMETRIC) | Optional biometric app unlock |
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | Task and reflection reminders |
Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM) | Reminders at the time you set |
Receive boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) | Re-schedule reminders after a device restart |
Vibrate (VIBRATE) | Notification vibration |
4. How We Use Information
- To provide the planner, journal, insights and reminder features
- To authenticate you and sync your data if you have an account
- To detect, diagnose and fix crashes and errors
- To protect the app and accounts from misuse
We do not use your tasks or journal content for advertising.
5. Sharing
We share information only in these cases:
- Service providers: Google Firebase (Crashlytics) for crash reporting, and the hosting infrastructure that runs DayZen's backend.
- Legal reasons: where required by law or to protect rights, safety and security.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- On-device data remains until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app.
- Account data on our servers is kept while your account is active. Deleted tasks and journal entries are first marked as deleted so the deletion can sync across your sessions.
- To request deletion of your account and server-side data, contact us at the address above.
- Crash reports are retained according to Firebase Crashlytics' own retention policy.
7. Security
- PINs are hashed and compared using a constant-time comparison.
- Authentication tokens are kept in the device's secure storage.
- Traffic to our servers is sent using HTTPS in production builds.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your device locked and your PIN private.
8. Your Choices
- Use the app without an account: your data then stays on your device.
- Enable or disable notifications, biometric unlock and PIN lock at any time.
- Edit or delete your tasks and journal entries at any time.
- Sign out to stop syncing.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law (for example access, correction, deletion, portability, or objection). We will respond to valid requests as required by applicable law.
9. Children's Privacy
DayZen is not directed to children under [AGE — 12]. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International Transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will show a new effective date, and material changes will be communicated in the app or by other appropriate means.
